DOWN's REX BROWN Jams With KING'X In Dallas

December 22, 2008

DOWN/ex-PANTERA bassist Rex Brown joined KING'S X on stage this past Friday (December 19) at The Door in Dallas, Texas for a rendition of the song "King". Check out pictures of the performance below (courtesy of Warrenh2000).

A BLABBERMOUTH.NET visitor who attended the concert told us in an e-mail, "After the show I got a chance to ask Rex about DOWN and all of the rumors that they would never play Dallas again (being all of the negative shit Phil [Anselmo, DOWN/ex-PANTERA singer] spoke of Dime [late PANTERA guitarist 'Dimebag' Darrell Abbott] before the shooting in 2004). Since then and the release of DOWN's last album, there has been no Dallas dates on any of their tours. Well, the wait is over. Rex confirmed that DOWN would be the headliner in February or March 2009 in Dallas with HANK WILLIAMS III, WEEDEATER and EVIL ARMY on the bill. I'm sure many old-school PANTERA fans have been waiting for this news for a long time."

Rex Brown recently told Billboard.com that there's "a lot of material left over" from DOWN's "Over the Under" album, which was recently released in a deluxe edition through Best Buy. The outtakes will be considered for the fourth DOWN album, but Brown added that the quintet is also "writing constantly on the road. We still have all these ideas, and we play a lot of new stuff at sound check, just to feel it out. Hopefully we can get back in the studio in the fall and work on something." Also in the works is a documentary of DOWN's 2006 reunion after a nearly four-year hiatus, including both live and behind-the-scenes footage. "It's kind of about us learning how to walk together again," Brown said. "It just chronicles the life on the road of us starting to play again. We're right in the middle of it now."
